The Tennessee School of Therapeutic Massage is authorized by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and offers training to become a massage therapist. After graduation you can choose the freedom of self-employment or obtain the security associated with full time employment. The course seeks to provide each student in the basic massage therapy program the skills, knowledge, and training necessary to become licensed in the state of Tennessee, successfully pass the National Certification Examination.

Starting dates for the classes in 2003 are March 16 and September 22. Hours for day classes are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students are scheduled to graduate in 22 weeks, allowing for a one week break and 5 days of excused absences.

Hours for evening classes are Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Students are schedule to graduate in 24 weeks, allowing for a one week break and 5 days of excused absences.

Requirement are a minimum education of a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years of age. All students will be required to visit the school and have a personal interview with one of the school’s administrators before official acceptance into the school. The school will accept a maximum of 24 students per class and those accepted will be admitted on a first-come, first served basis.

Tuition for the 500 hour basis Massage Therapy program is $3,995. Upon acceptance into the school, students will be required to submit a $200 registration fee.. This fee is non-refundable but the entire amount is applied towards the cost of tuition. Students may pay the cost of the tuition in full or the school will set up a budget plan of $1,995 down and 5 monthly payments of $430. The budget plan includes a $150 finance charge.

SLM Financial offers student loans. The Tennessee School of Therapeutic Massage will help you set up the loan so that you will only have to pay the interest while you are in school, probably less than $15 per month for each $1,000 borrowed. Students wishing to apply for a student loan are advised to contact the admissions office at least 4 weeks prior to their desired starting date.
